The Superintendent Welcomes You!

We would like to welcome you to the Indian Oasis Baboquivari School District Website!  Our district has approximately 1,200 students, and is growing.  It is an exciting and dynamic place to learn and work. The district is proud to serve the Tohono O'odham Nation (for the exact location see map available on the Home Page) which is situated approximately 2,400 feet in the Sonoran Desert, surrounded by majestic mountains, etched against wide horizons.

It is from this rich backdrop that we focus on the needs of our students and teach, encourage and inspire them to pursue academic excellence.  We take a holistic approach to education.  Our desire is not only to address students' intellectual growth, but their emotional, physical and spiritual well being also.

We wish to continue to build on our success and are seeking new ways to improve our educational practice.   Extremely important to this approach is the incorporation of the Tohono O'odham culture into our teaching methods so the "himdag" has a significant place in the foundation of our educational programs.  A successful school district has to involve, and have a dialogue with, the community.  Therefore, we will continue to seek the support and ideas of the community.

With a sense of pride and excitement for the good future of the Indian Oasis Baboquivari School District we extend to you a warm welcome to this Website.  Please take time to browse through its pages.  In Tohono O'odham we say, once again,  "Sam kaij, sam a'i masma!"
